Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Vincent Diaz (ranked 3769 p4p, 25185 weight class) and Deon Jeffries (ranked 397 p4p, 517 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Diaz might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Tantric Buddhist Chants. Deon Jeffries acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Vincent Diaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Deon Jeffries! The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Bart Greer and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jeffries misses with a double jab.
Jeffries fails to land the takedown. Diaz looks to land a left hand but Jeffries moved out of range nicely. Jeffries fails with the takedown. Jeffries closes the distance and pushes Diaz back into the cage. Diaz taking a breather. Jeffries breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Nice takedown defense from Diaz. No joy for Jeffries on that attempt. Vincent Diaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Deon Jeffries. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Diaz blocks a head kick by Jeffries.

Diaz on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Diaz tries to get out of the position. Jeffries throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Jeffries working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Jeffries postures up in Diaz's guard and throws a big left but Diaz blocks it. Jeffries won't allow Diaz to sweep him here.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Diaz is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight. Diaz throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Jeffries counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Deon Jeffries seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jeffries gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Diaz makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Jeffries looks winded! Diaz shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Jeffries has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Jeffries is trying to stand up here but Diaz is controlling him well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Diaz throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jeffries's waist but Jeffries gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Diaz off to one side. Jeffries is looking to clinch but Diaz is avoiding it.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Diaz gets a takedown into half guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Diaz stalling. Diaz is just content to waste time from the top position. Jeffries takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Diaz with a flurry of punches that miss. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Diaz stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Diaz wants it to stay on the feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. No luck with that takedown attempt from Jeffries. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jeffries. Diaz was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Jeffries bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Deon Jeffries seems to be getting the better of the standup. Diaz closes the distance and clinches. Diaz lands a nice uppercut. Jeffries has Diaz pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Diaz manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Jeffries has picked Diaz up - he's going for a ride! Jeffries dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Diaz is on the bottom, trying to hold on to half guard. He's throwing a few small shots here, to keep his opponent honest. Jeffries missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Jeffries throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Jeffries misses with a head shot. Diaz uses the momentum to regain guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Jeffries throws a strike but Diaz rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Diaz cracks Jeffries with a solid left hand. Jeffries wants to stand and escape but Diaz is having none of it. Diaz postures up in Jeffries's guard and throws a big left but Jeffries blocks it.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Diaz thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Jeffries is trying to stand back up but Diaz is controlling him

Diaz went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Jeffries throws a nice head kick!

It looked like Diaz was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Jeffries. Jeffries throws a right and a left that both miss. Diaz will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Diaz tries for a takedown but Jeffries sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Diaz fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Jeffries decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Diaz controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Jeffries throwing shots but Diaz is blocking nicely. Vincent Diaz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Deon Jeffries is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Jeffries thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Diaz's head.
