PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tre Jokinen (ranked 1024 p4p, 1540 weight class) and Jaro Key (ranked 97 p4p, 135 weight class). Key has chosen HonestKey- The Unseen as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tre Jokinen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jaro Key!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Key. Jokinen does a little dance to reset his feet.
Key misses with a straight left.
Key connects with a nice looking jab.
Key blocks a jab.
Key drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Jokinen defends it well.
Jokinen is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Key.
Jokinen scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Key digs a good hook to Jokinen's body.
Key throws the left hand but Jokinen avoids the punch easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jokinen manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Key on his heels. He'll look to pass Key's guard now, I'm sure.

Jokinen got a little sloppy there for a moment and Key has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jokinen has managed to get both his arms back between Key's legs - danger averted.

Key had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jokinen defends it easily.

Key working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jokinen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jokinen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Key has his foot on Jokinen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jokinen works his way back into a safe position though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tre Jokinen.
Well Jokinen has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
