Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bjorn Akerfeldt (ranked 1420 p4p, 1122 weight class) and Sammy Beach (ranked 175 p4p, 141 weight class). Sammy Beach has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Bjorn Akerfeldt's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bjorn Akerfeldt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 30 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sammy Beach!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Beach gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Beach.
Beach doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Beach stops a takedown attempt from Akerfeldt.
Beach misses with some punches.
Akerfeldt takes an elbow to the forehead.

It looks like Bjorn Akerfeldt has been cut.
Akerfeldt tries for a takedown. No joy.

Akerfeldt has hold of one of Beach's legs. Beach is fighting the takedown attempt but Akerfeldt gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Beach has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Akerfeldt is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Akerfeldt has clasped his hands together around Beach's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Beach wants to get back to his feet but Akerfeldt drags him back down.
Beach can't do much from the bottom here.
Akerfeldt wants to control but Beach is keeping him busy.

Beach is looking for a sweep.
Beach sneaks back into half guard.
Beach really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Akerfeldt. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Beach is not content to let Akerfeldt control the position.
Akerfeldt is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Beach is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Akerfeldt wants to pass the guard but Beach is defending well.
Akerfeldt is looking to take a break and control but Beach is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Beach tries to get to full guard but Akerfeldt has control of the leg.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Akerfeldt works his foot free and advances to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Beach is squirming around, avoiding Akerfeldt's attempts to control the action.

Akerfeldt has hold of Beach's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Beach manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Akerfeldt wants to control the pace but Beach is squirming around nicely.
Akerfeldt misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Akerfeldt controlling his opponent.
Beach is squirming around, avoiding Akerfeldt's attempts to control the action.
Beach is desperately trying to improve his position but Akerfeldt has a good base and remains in mount.
Beach is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Akerfeldt wants to control the pace but Beach is squirming around nicely.
Beach tries to hold on but Akerfeldt pushes him away.
Akerfeldt controlling the position easily from mount.
Beach is trying to stand up.

Beach is looking to improve his position but Akerfeldt isn't that keen on the idea.

Akerfeldt has control of Beach's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Beach regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Beach is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Akerfeldt is working for a guillotine from mount but Beach frees his head quite easily.
Beach has given up his back. Will we see Akerfeldt going for some submissions?
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Bjorn Akerfeldt will probably get the nod.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Akerfeldt ducks under a wild hook from Beach.
Akerfeldt swats away the attempt to clinch by Beach.
Akerfeldt thows a leg kick but Beach checks it

and Beach counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Beach misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Akerfeldt tries for a takedown but Beach manages to get underhooks.
Beach misses with a punch to the body.
Beach lands a hook that snaps the head of Akerfeldt backwards.
Beach misses with a punch to the body.
Beach is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Akerfeldt blocking some punches.
Beach throws a punch but it's blocked by Akerfeldt.
Beach lands with a short shot to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Beach misses with a body punch.
Akerfeldt goes for a takedown in the clinch but Beach prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bjorn Akerfeldt. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Beach presses Akerfeldt against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Beach lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Akerfeldt has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Beach after a bit of a struggle.
Akerfeldt has Beach pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Beach manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Beach creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Beach lands an uppercut.
Akerfeldt has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Beach is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Beach lands a body shot.
Beach lands with a light punch inside.
Beach lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Akerfeldt backwards.

Beach breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Beach drops Akerfeldt with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Akerfeldt looks back up at him and smiles so Beach waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Akerfeldt is rocked!

Beach rushes Akerfeldt and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Oh Akerfeldt is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Beach makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Beach lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Akerfeldt goes for a takedown in the clinch but Beach prevents it.
Beach lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Beach lands a right hand that snaps the head of Akerfeldt backwards.
A short left from Beach.
Beach cracks Akerfeldt with a nice body shot.
Akerfeldt is pressed against the cage. Beach pushes back and unleashes a big elbow that really hurts Akerfeldt! Two more big strikes from Beach and Akerfeldt crumples to the mat and taps out furiously due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Sammy Beach!
A very excited looking Sammy Beach rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
