PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between O Fadda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alan Rodrigo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Emerson Jorge and Matheus Silva.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fadda misses with a two punch combination.
Fadda works Rodrigo's body with a nice hook.

Rodrigo closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Fadda tries to buck Rodrigo off but Rodrigo is having none of it.
Rodrigo misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Rodrigo works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Rodrigo stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Fadda gets caught flat footed, as Rodrigo shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rodrigo slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Fadda throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Rodrigo trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Fadda is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Fadda lands a nice short elbow.
Rodrigo gets full guard.
Fadda trying to control the position from guard on top but Rodrigo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Rodrigo is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Rodrigo should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Rodrigo has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Fadda avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Rodrigo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Rodrigo tries to close the distance and clinch but Fadda swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Fadda lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Rodrigo swings for the body but Fadda moves out of range.
Rodrigo looks gassed!
Fadda lands a glancing blow to the side of Rodrigo's head.

and Rodrigo counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Fadda keeping moving, preventing Rodrigo from controlling successfully.
Fadda looking to control but Rodrigo passes into half guard.

Rodrigo wants to take a breather but Fadda is having none of it.
Rodrigo might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Fadda kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Rodrigo decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Fadda has Rodrigo up against the cage in a clinch.
Fadda tries to break the clinch but Rodrigo is controlling the position.
Fadda is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Rodrigo pulls Fadda into guard.
Rodrigo wants to sweep here but Fadda controlling him for the moment.
Fadda lands a couple of elbows.
Fadda wants to get up but he can't break Rodrigo's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Fadda won't allow Rodrigo to sweep him here.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Fadda cracks Rodrigo with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

and Rodrigo counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for O Fadda. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fadda on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Fadda wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Rodrigo is pushing Fadda up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Rodrigo tries to pull guard but Fadda won't allow it.
Fadda has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Rodrigo avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Rodrigo has eaten all the pies!
Rodrigo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
O Fadda is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rodrigo takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Fadda.
Rodrigo shoots in for a takedown but Fadda shows good takedown defense.
Fadda scores with a one two! Rodrigo had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Rodrigo shoots in and drives through. Fadda sprawls well.
O Fadda has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alan Rodrigo.

Fadda can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rodrigo controls the pace.

Fadda is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Rodrigo rolls with it to try and escape but Fadda cranks on the arm and Rodrigo is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
