Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Viktor Mikidropov (ranked 1291 p4p, 2487 weight class) and Common Carp (ranked 172 p4p, 288 weight class). Mikidropov's entrance music is Danger. A fine choice. Carp is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Back On My BS - BigXthaPlug. Common Carp is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Viktor Mikidropov!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Common Carp!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shigeki Sano and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Carp as Mikidropov shoots in.
Carp swings for the body but Mikidropov moves out of range.
Carp connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Carp lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mikidropov circles away quickly and effectively.
Mikidropov changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Mikidropov shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Carp but Carp pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Carp lands a jab.

It looks like Viktor Mikidropov has been cut.
Carp ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mikidropov drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mikidropov jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
We've been hearing good reports from Mikidropov's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Mikidropov decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Carp tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Mikidropov manages to move to mount!
Carp really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mikidropov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Mikidropov shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Carp pinned against the cage. Carp gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Mikidropov throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Carp's waist but Carp gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mikidropov off to one side.
Carp fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Mikidropov.

Carp lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Carp swings for the body but Mikidropov moves out of range.

Carp throws a body shot but no joy.
Carp misses with the combination.
Mikidropov throws a leg kick but Carp checks it.
Mikidropov fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Mikidropov tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mikidropov has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Carp tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mikidropov wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Common Carp showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Mikidropov has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Carp has left one of his arms exposed and Mikidropov doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Carp screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Viktor Mikidropov!
