The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Howell moves forwards but Ribeiro connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Ribeiro pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Howell.
Howell controls the position from side control.

Howell tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Howell has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Ribeiro is looking to reverse the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Howell wants to control but Ribeiro is keeping him busy.

Howell is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Ribeiro knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Howell swings around for an armbar but Ribeiro sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Howell's guard.

Howell escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ribeiro gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Howell manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Ribeiro on his heels. He'll look to pass Ribeiro's guard now, I'm sure.

Ribeiro is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Howell has latched onto it... Big trouble! Howell pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Ribeiro is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Howell!
