PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Rick Victor (ranked 5674 p4p, 25559 weight class) and Gervonta Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davis has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Gervonta Davis acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rick Victor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Gervonta Davis!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Michael Johnstone and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Victor drives through with a takedown into guard.
Victor working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Davis's head.
Victor slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Victor's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Further stalling from Victor.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Victor is in close to Davis's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Victor showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Davis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Victor. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Davis has momentary wrist control but Victor slips an elbow through the middle.
Davis looks winded!
Victor is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Victor cracks Davis with a solid left hand.
Victor's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Victor drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Victor jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Victor controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Victor looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Victor lands a couple of digs.

Victor thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Davis is working an open guard so Victor takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Victor throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Davis tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Victor is in Davis's guard.

Davis can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Victor controls the pace.

Victor seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Victor gets to his feet - Davis follows without any prompting.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Victor moves into the clinch.

Victor pulls Davis into guard.
Victor pulls Davis in close to his closed guard and prevents Davis from doing any damage or advancing position.

Victor is looking to cinch up a triangle. Davis throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Victor's body to avoid the submission. Victor has instead reached around Davis's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Victor arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Rick Victor!
