Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Max Rivera (ranked 25593 p4p, 4110 weight class) and Colby Covigten (ranked 0 p4p, 430 weight class). Colby Covigten told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Max Rivera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Colby Covigten!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Covigten throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rivera throws a nice head kick!
It looks like Colby Covigten has been cut.
Covigten fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rivera sprawls well initially but Covigten persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Covigten sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Rivera defending well though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Covigten sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Covigten missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Rivera is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Covigten scores with a couple of nice shots.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Covigten throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Rivera preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Covigten perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Rivera is trying to stand up here but Covigten is controlling him well.

Covigten looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Covigten not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Covigten working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Covigten controlling the pace.

Rivera keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Rivera is breathing heavily.
Covigten content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
It looks like Covigten might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Covigten is trying for a kimura here. Rivera looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Covigten wins by kimura!
