PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kash Klay (ranked 5041 p4p, 4431 weight class) and Cael Pearson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kash Klay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Cael Pearson!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Roosa Järviläinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Klay swings for the body but Pearson moves out of range.

Pearson moves into the clinch.

Pearson tightens his grip and picks Klay up, before dumping him to the ground. Klay manages to land in guard.
Pearson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Klay works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Klay knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pearson on the ground.
Pearson is stalling in the full guard.
Pearson working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Klay's head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pearson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Klay manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Pearson has Klay in his guard.

Pearson is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Klay presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Pearson breaks the clinch.
Klay wants to clinch up but Pearson keeps it at a distance.
Klay tries to close the distance and clinch but Pearson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Pearson appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Pearson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Klay to score with a decent uppercut.
Pearson walks into a jab.

Pearson has Klay up against the cage in a clinch.
Klay has a couple of punches blocked by Pearson.

Pearson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pearson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Klay throws a low kick, looking for Pearson's leg but Pearson calmly moves out of range.

Pearson moves into range and clinches up with Klay.
Pearson tries to work over Klay's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Pearson pulls Klay into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pearson has his hands on Klay's head, controlling the position.
Pearson lands a couple of decent looking body shots there.

Pearson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Klay can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Pearson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Pearson lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Pearson works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Pearson slows the pace down in half guard.
It looks like Pearson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Pearson's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Pearson uses his free foot to push down on Klay's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Klay.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Cael Pearson dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Pearson moves into the clinch.
Pearson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Pearson pulls guard.
Pearson seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Let's hope that Pearson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Pearson has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Klay is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Klay is trying to stand up here but Pearson is controlling him well.

Pearson is working for a submission of some sort.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pearson stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Klay to get to his feet.

Pearson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Klay.
Klay works Pearson's body with a nice hook.
Klay is looking to chop away at Pearson's legs.
Pearson checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Pearson looking to score a takedown here. Klay is defending well but Pearson drives through and ends up in Klay's guard.

Klay is working an open guard so Pearson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Pearson darts in and clinches Klay up against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Klay is trying to break free.

Pearson has hold of one of Klay's legs. Klay is fighting the takedown attempt but Pearson gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Klay is wriggling around but Pearson manages to pass to half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Cael Pearson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Klay tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Pearson was well out of range. Poor timing from Klay.
Klay is looking to score with low kicks.
Despite the aggression on Pearson's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Klay pivots, looking for a leg kick but Pearson is out of range and Klay settles back down.
A left lands for Klay.
A big right from Pearson misses.

Klay looks to land a right hand but Pearson moved out of range.
Klay tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Pearson is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Pearson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
A lull in the action here as Pearson stalls from top position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Yet more stalling tactics from Pearson.

Pearson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Klay is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Pearson in side control lands a decent elbow.
Pearson connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Klay some visible discomfort.
Pearson is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Pearson is putting a hurting on Klay here, landing some big shots from side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee asks Pearson politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Pearson prefers to stall for the moment though.

Pearson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Pearson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Klay knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Kash Klay has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Cael Pearson is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Pearson advances to full mount.

Cael Pearson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Pearson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
