Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stijn Vleghels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Punka Brandt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Stijn Vleghels! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Punka Brandt! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, James Glass and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vleghels tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Brandt moves into range and clinches up with Vleghels. Vleghels jumps guard but Brandt stands there with Vleghels around his waist. Vleghels gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Vleghels breaks from the clinch.
Vleghels fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Brandt bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Brandt avoids the strikes from the bottom by Vleghels. Brandt trying to control the position but Vleghels is working away. Brandt tries to advance to mount but can't. Vleghels could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Vleghels defending against the ground and pound. Vleghels throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
Vleghels has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Vleghels is looking for a sweep.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vleghels is working hard here to advance position. Brandt is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Vleghels will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Brandt drives through and clinches with Vleghels against the cage.
Vleghels is working for takedown but Brandt is calmly controlling the position for now. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stijn Vleghels. That's going to take a lot out of him. Brandt's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Brandt swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Vleghels shoots and misses and Brandt counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Vleghels closes the distance looking to clinch and Brandt counters with a left and a right that stings Vleghels. Brandt darts in and clinches Vleghels up against the cage. Vleghels can't get the takedown.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brandt wants a takedown.
Vleghels goes for a takedown attempt but Brandt pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Vleghels tries to clinch but fails miserably and Brandt counters with an inside leg kick. Vleghels gets caught flat footed, as Brandt shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Vleghels looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Vleghels has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Brandt is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Vleghels. Vleghels is breathing heavily. Brandt wants to lay and pray for a moment but Vleghels keeps working. Brandt is trying to move to mount but Vleghels reverses beautifully and ends up in Brandt's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Vleghels throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vleghels wants to stand and escape but instead Brandt has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Vleghels working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Brandt doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Brandt manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Vleghels is trying to control the position but Brandt postures up. Brandt looking to sit in guard and control but Vleghels gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Brandt is adopting a defensive guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Vleghels throwing strikes from guard but Brandt blocks nicely. Vleghels thows a big elbow that misses. Vleghels throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Brandt works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Vleghels tries to free his leg and advance position but Brandt is retaining full guard. Vleghels wants to control from the top but Brandt keeps moving. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Punka Brandt dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Brandt gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Brandt preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Vleghels distracts Brandt with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Brandt managing to control the position. Vleghels controls from within his opponent's guard. Brandt is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vleghels throws a big right hand that misses. Vleghels scoring with some ground and pound. Brandt is working an open guard so Vleghels takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Vleghels misses with a takedown and Brandt counters with a good low kick that Vleghels was not able to check. Vleghels wants to clinch and Brandt holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Brandt wants to break free but Vleghels has control.
Vleghels lands a shoulder strike. Vleghels manages to break the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brandt is looking to clinch. Vleghels tries to clinch but fails miserably and Brandt decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Vleghels's guard. Brandt is breathing heavily. Vleghels is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Vleghels is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Brandt is controlling him. Vleghels looking for a sweep. Not yet Vleghels, not yet. Vleghels seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Vleghels is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Vleghels is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Brandt wanted to stand there but Vleghels had control of the position.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Vleghels closes the distance but Brandt moves to the side and Brandt holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Vleghels gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Brandt.
Vleghels manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Vleghels looking for a sweep. Not yet Vleghels, not yet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Vleghels throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Vleghels is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Vleghels doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Vleghels keeping moving, preventing Brandt from controlling successfully. Vleghels is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Brandt tries to free his leg and advance position but Vleghels is retaining full guard. Vleghels is adopting a defensive guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Stijn Vleghels will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Vleghels gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Stijn Vleghels overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Vleghels trying to control the position from guard on top but Brandt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Vleghels passes easily into side control. Nice work. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Brandt struggling a bit here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vleghels controlling the position from side mount. Vleghels in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Brandt tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Vleghels easily slips into full mount! Vleghels is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Brandt can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Brandt is squirming around, avoiding Vleghels's attempts to control the action.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vleghels scoring with strikes but Brandt is staying in there. Vleghels misses with a head shot. Vleghels wants to control the pace but Brandt is squirming around nicely. Vleghels is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Vleghels!
