Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chester Mackintosh (ranked 2608 p4p, 3956 weight class) and Bjorn Haelfson (ranked 313 p4p, 439 weight class). Haelfson comes into a darkened arena with his song building. 80/20SKYBEEF kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chester Mackintosh! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bjorn Haelfson! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Phil Schofield and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Haelfson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Mackintosh on his heels. He'll look to pass Mackintosh's guard now, I'm sure. Haelfson passes Mackintosh's left leg - he's now in half guard. Haelfson is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Haelfson wants to take Mackintosh's back but he can't do it this time. Mackintosh wants to control but Haelfson is having none of it. Mackintosh really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Haelfson tries to take Mackintosh's back but instead Mackintosh uses the opportunity to regain half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mackintosh is controlling Haelfson's position as best he can from this difficult position. Mackintosh's coaches at GWad's Playpen have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position. Haelfson is keen to just control but Mackintosh is a slippery customer.

Mackintosh stops Haelfson from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Haelfson misses with a head shot. Haelfson moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Mackintosh has worked his arm free - good work by Mackintosh!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Haelfson looking for a sweep. Not yet Haelfson, not yet. Mackintosh controlling from the top position. Haelfson looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Mackintosh puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Haelfson wants to get back to full guard but Mackintosh has mounted him! Haelfson gets back to half guard. Mackintosh looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Haelfson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Haelfson. Mackintosh preventing the sweep. Mackintosh is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Bjorn Haelfson dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action! Haelfson takes a jab right on the kisser.
Haelfson throws a push kick but Mackintosh slaps the foot to one side. A clash of legs there as Haelfson blocks the low kick. Mackintosh misses with an attempted mid kick.
A little jabbing left from Haelfson on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Haelfson fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Haelfson swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Mackintosh takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Haelfson is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Mackintosh lands with a right hand. Haelfson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mackintosh pinned against the cage. Mackintosh gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Haelfson misses with a shot to the body and Mackintosh counters with a lovely straight right hand! Mackintosh moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. A momentary lapse in concentration from Mackintosh enables Haelfson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mackintosh manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Haelfson pushes down on Mackintosh's leg and manages to get into half guard. Haelfson is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Haelfson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Mackintosh is looking to escape. Haelfson takes Mackintosh's back. Haelfson looking to break Mackintosh's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Mackintosh remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Haelfson will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Haelfson patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?

Haelfson has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Haelfson pushes down on Mackintosh's leg and manages to get into half guard. Haelfson thows a huge punch but Mackintosh dodges it nicely.

Haelfson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mackintosh does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Mackintosh makes his way to full guard. Haelfson trying to mount his opponent but Mackintosh defends it. Haelfson landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Mackintosh gets full guard. Mackintosh working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Haelfson. Haelfson wants to pass the guard but Mackintosh is keeping the position. Haelfson is fighting to break Mackintosh's control of his arms but Mackintosh is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. And that is the end of the round. Bjorn Haelfson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Mackintosh's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards. Mackintosh throws a head kick that misses. Bjorn Haelfson is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Mackintosh bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Haelfson rushes Mackintosh and presses him up against the cage. Haelfson has Mackintosh pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Mackintosh manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Mackintosh breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Mackintosh misses with a straight right. A head kick from Mackintosh lands but Haelfson takes it in his stride. Haelfson takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Mackintosh jabbing away but nothing is landing. Haelfson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Mackintosh gets full guard. Haelfson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Bjorn Haelfson has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Haelfson is fighting to break Mackintosh's control of his arms but Mackintosh is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Haelfson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Haelfson being controlled here momentarily.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Mackintosh swings for the body but Haelfson moves out of range.
Mackintosh on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Haelfson gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Mackintosh. Haelfson looks to land a body kick but Mackintosh moved away. Haelfson throws a push kick but Mackintosh slaps the foot to one side. Haelfson dives in and grabs Mackintosh's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mackintosh pushes down on Haelfson's head and hops out. Mackintosh digs a good hook to Haelfson's body.

enabling Mackintosh to counter with a crisp jab. Mackintosh throws a jab when Haelfson was well out of range. Haelfson doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Mackintosh works Haelfson's body with a nice hook. Mackintosh lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Nice body kick from Mackintosh. Mackintosh misses with a straight left. Mackintosh displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Haelfson. Chester Mackintosh has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bjorn Haelfson.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mackintosh takes one on the button. Mackintosh ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Haelfson moves away. Mackintosh stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mackintosh wants it to stay on the feet. Haelfson lands with a nice body punch. Mackintosh swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Mackintosh lands a leg kick that knocks Haelfson off balance momentarily. Haelfson gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Haelfson takes a body punch but keeps moving. Mackintosh is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Haelfson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Mackintosh connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Mackintosh stuffs the takedown. Mackintosh clobbers Haelfson with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nice takedown defense from Mackintosh. No joy for Haelfson on that attempt. Jab by Mackintosh. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mackintosh throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Mackintosh throws a front kick that sends Haelfson stumbling back into the cage. Mackintosh connects with a good right hand that stumbles Haelfson. Haelfson circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Haelfson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mackintosh sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Haelfson somewhat. Mackintosh scores with a leg kick.
Mackintosh connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Haelfson misses with a takedown and Mackintosh counters with an inside leg kick. Chester Mackintosh has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Mackintosh takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
And that's the end of the fight! Chester Mackintosh showed his dominance in that final round. I think Haelfson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
