And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 2 losses; FanDan Django! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, William Peck and Elvis Blanc.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Django drives through with a takedown into Trismegistus's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Trismegistus (0) vs (2) Django Django got a little sloppy there for a moment and Trismegistus has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Django has managed to get both his arms back between Trismegistus's legs - danger averted. Django wants to control from the top but Trismegistus keeps moving. Trismegistus is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Trismegistus (2) vs (2) Django Trismegistus is trying to work for a kimura but Django is defending well.
Trismegistus passes the guard and advances to mount! Score +3 for passing guard: Trismegistus (5) vs (2) Django We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Trismegistus is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Django is surviving well by controlling Trismegistus's body position as best he can. Trismegistus wants to finish this one by submission but Django is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Trismegistus.
That's one minute gone in the round. Trismegistus fails to take his opponent's back. Trismegistus takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.
Score +3 for taking back: Trismegistus (8) vs (2) Django Trismegistus seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Trismegistus is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Django has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Trismegistus has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Django taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Trismegistus doesn't care though - he's delighted!
