This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 18 wins and 3 losses; Walon Green! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 3 losses; Hafthor Kruger! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Yves DeLean and Alec Ball.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Kruger misses with a takedown attempt - Green sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Kruger changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Green tries to avoid it but Kruger manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Green to the ground. Green escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Kruger fails with a takedown attempt. Green feinted with a counter takedown. Walon Green has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hafthor Kruger. Kruger shoots in looking for a takedown. Green tries to sprawl out of it but Kruger keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Green manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Green attempts a counter takedown but Kruger avoids it well and moves away. Kruger has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Green defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kruger. Green feinted with a counter takedown. Kruger fails to land the takedown. Green gets the takedown into side control.
