This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 4 losses; Paul Hunter! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 7 wins and 1 losses; John Snake!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Radbod Blank and Saam Ante.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Hunter shoots in for a double leg but Snake sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Snake rushes Hunter and presses him up against the cage.
Hunter looking for a takedown.
Snake gets underhooks to prevent Hunter's takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Hunter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Snake wants to take the fight to the mat but Hunter manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Hunter is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Snake has escaped the position, nice work there.
Hunter is looking to take a break and control but Snake is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

You can see the frustration on Snake's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Hunter is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Snake is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Hunter's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Hunter looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Hunter is taking a breather. Snake says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Hunter is pressing down on Snake's thigh, looking to free his foot. Snake is holding on for now.
Snake trying to hold on to Hunter's head to control him but Hunter postures up.

Snake is looking to improve his position.
Hunter wants to pass the guard but Snake is defending well.
Hunter is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Hunter has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Snake is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hunter's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hunter's back!

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Snake's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Snake doesn't have the hooks in and Hunter manages to turn into his guard.

Snake just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Snake has the hooks in. Hunter is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Snake is looking to control Hunter but Hunter is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Hunter rolls, trying to escape but Snake keeps control of the position.
Snake not allowing Hunter to control his hands.
Hunter tries to escape but Snake has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Well, with Snake on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Hunter is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

Snake wants to control but Hunter is keeping busy.
Hunter trying to control the hands but Snake won't let him.

Hunter is trying to roll into a better position but Snake has get a rear naked choke and Hunter is forced to tap out! This one is allllll over!
