The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. A momentary lapse in concentration from Maximus Jr enables Craig to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Maximus Jr manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Craig (2) vs (0) Maximus Jr Craig being controlled here momentarily. Craig has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Maximus Jr is continuing to stall. Maximus Jr tries to land a sweep but no joy. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Maximus Jr holds on and takes a little breather. Maximus Jr is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Maximus Jr has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Score +3 for passing guard: Craig (2) vs (5) Maximus Jr Craig is controlling an arm, preventing Maximus Jr from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Let's hope that Maximus Jr has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Craig on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Craig tries to get out of the position.
