And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 72 wins and 49 losses; Vasiliy Kulik!

Kulik seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Balkan sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Balkan is refusing to be controlled, as Kulik sits in half guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kulik wants to control but Balkan is keeping him busy.

Balkan is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Kulik has his hands clasped together but Balkan extends and breaks Kulik's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Balkan.
