The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Ramirez shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Ramirez (2) vs (0) Sparxx Ramirez sitting and controlling from the half guard. Sparxx is looking to improve his position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sparxx is looking to control Ramirez's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sparxx avoid being mounted? We've been hearing good reports from Ramirez's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Sparxx is not content to let Ramirez control the position. Sparxx tries to get to full guard but Ramirez has control of the leg. Ramirez is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Sparxx pulls Ramirez in close to his closed guard and prevents Ramirez from doing any damage or advancing position. That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Sparxx stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ramirez swivels though and keeps the full guard. Sparxx preventing the sweep. Ramirez looking to control.
Sparxx's corner is telling him to maintain position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Sparxx pushes down on Ramirez's leg and manages to get into half guard. Ramirez gets full guard.
And that's the end of the fight! As we have tied on points and both fighters attempted the same number of subs, we will decide the bout based on the toss of a coin! Ramirez is heads and Sparxx is tails. The coin is in the air and it lands... tails! Sparxx wins on points by 3 to 2. After winning the bout, Tyrone Sparxx thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility. |
