This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 62 wins and 93 losses; Billy Turturro! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 72 wins and 50 losses; Vasiliy Kulik! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Steven Brown and Daniel Bishop.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Turturro fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kulik avoids it really well and circles away. Kulik slaps away a takedown attempt from Turturro, before circling back to the center of the mat. Turturro shoots in looking for a takedown. Kulik tries to sprawl out of it but Turturro keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kulik manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Kulik's coach down at KFA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Kulik's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Billy Turturro. That's going to take a lot out of him. Turturro shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kulik defends it nicely. Kulik has managed to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kulik stops a takedown attempt from Turturro.
Turturro is trying to drag Kulik to the mat but Kulik just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Kulik decides to pull guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kulik tries to land a sweep but no joy.

It looks like Kulik might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Kulik patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? Turturro is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Kulik gets his way!

Kulik is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Turturro is looking to improve his position but Kulik isn't that keen on the idea. Kulik controlling the position easily from mount. Turturro manages to regain half guard. Good work.

We've been hearing good reports from Turturro's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Turturro is looking to reverse the position.
