The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Retsu lands with an uppercut that bounces Lawson off the cage and back into range.
Lawson gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Lawson tests Retsu's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Lawson swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Lawson misses with a low kick as Retsu jumps back.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Retsu.
Retsu throws a head kick that misses.
Lawson tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Eishuu Retsu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Retsu fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Retsu moves out of range as Lawson throws a body kick.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Retsu fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Lawson.

Retsu scores with a head kick. Lawson tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
A slapping body kick lands there for Retsu.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lawson takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Retsu has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Lawson clinches up against the cage.
Retsu is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lawson can do to turn this around?

Retsu escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Lawson scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Lawson stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Retsu.

Whack! Retsu lands a heavy head kick that drops Lawson. The ref tackles Retsu to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Lawson was done.
