Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ricky Sweet (ranked 2139 p4p, 3924 weight class) and Preston Foster (ranked 274 p4p, 445 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Ricky Sweet has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Ricky Sweet seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ricky Sweet! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Preston Foster! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sweet takes a swing at Foster's ribcage but misses. Sweet drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Foster tries to improve position but can't. Foster tries to escape but Sweet is in control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Foster is being controlled here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Foster wants to get back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Foster tries to buck Sweet off but Sweet is having none of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Foster's face as Sweet controls the position. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Sweet's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Further stalling from Sweet. Foster looking for a sweep but Sweet has passed into full mount! Oh no! Sweet tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Sweet sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Foster can't escape the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sweet sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Foster's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. We've been informed that Foster has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Sweet thowing shots but they're missing. Foster is trying to stand. Sweet controlling from mount. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Sweet seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Foster for as long as he can get away with.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Foster is looking to get to half guard. Sweet controlling the pace for now. Foster is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Sweet controlling the position easily from mount. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Foster bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Ricky Sweet dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Foster closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Sweet misses with an uppercut. A head kick misses from Foster. Foster tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Sweet swings widly with a right hand
and Foster counters with a body kick. Sweet throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Sweet misses with a looping right. Sweet fails with a takedown attempt. Sweet scores with a hook to the body. Foster takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Foster tries to clinch up but Sweet circles away and keeps his distance. Sweet swings and misses with a shot to the body and Foster counters with a head kick. Foster moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
This has been an exciting period of action! Sweet cracks Foster with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Sweet closes the distance and clinches up with Foster, looking for a takedown. Sweet pushes Foster against the cage but Foster circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Foster tries a head kick but it misses.
Foster tries to close the distance and clinch but Sweet swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Sweet avoids the head kick by Foster.
Ricky Sweet seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sweet lands a nice hook to Foster's body. Foster takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Sweet looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Preston Foster is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Sweet looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Foster is clearly looking to counter with head kicks. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ricky Sweet. That's going to take a lot out of him. Foster lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. A big right from Sweet misses. Sweet gets a takedown into half guard. Sweet is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Foster pushes Sweet off looking to stand but Sweet dives back in and keeps control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sweet sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Foster defending well though. Sweet lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Sweet perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Foster keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Sweet is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Sweet passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Foster! Sweet prevents Foster from getting the reversal.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sweet tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Sweet prevents Foster from getting the reversal. Foster wants to control but Sweet is having none of it. Sweet content just to control the position here. You get the feeling that Foster really doesn't like being in this position too much.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Sweet is landing with some decent strikes but Foster is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Foster is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Sweet takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Foster's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Foster can't escape the position.

Ricky Sweet dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round! Sweet cracks Foster with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Sweet circles away from the clinch attempt.

Sweet is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Foster can do to turn this around? A looping hook to the body misses from Sweet. Foster does a little dance to reset his feet. Foster rushes Sweet and presses him up against the cage. Foster tries to break the clinch but Sweet is controlling the position. Sweet blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Foster trying to control the position but instead, Sweet has worked for underhooks and has pushed Foster into the cage. Sweet misses with a hook to the ribs.

and Foster counters with a big head kick but Sweet shrugs it off. Preston Foster seems to be getting the better of the standup. Sweet shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Foster as he jumps to the side. Sweet tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Foster was well out of range. Poor timing from Sweet. Sweet swings for the body but Foster moves out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Foster throws a half hearted mid kick. Foster gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Foster throws a head kick that half lands.
It looks like Ricky Sweet has been cut. Foster pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Foster instigates a clinch. Sweet doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Foster slows down the pace here.
Sweet breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Sweet misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Foster.
Sweet misses the body punch and Foster counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Foster moves out of range as Sweet strikes. Foster raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick. Foster throws a sloppy head kick and Sweet moves out of range easily. Sweet fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. This has been an exciting period of action! Sweet fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Foster to the ground. Sweet is now in Foster's guard. Sweet engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sweet is standing up over Foster. Foster looks to escape but Sweet dives into side control.
Sweet content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Foster is pushing Sweet's head away, looking to escape. Sweet manages to hold on to the position though. Foster is positioning himself to get back to half guard. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Foster regains half guard. Ricky Sweet overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Foster is trying to stand up here but Sweet is controlling him well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Foster wants to control but Sweet is keeping busy.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Foster lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Sweet waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Foster. Sweet shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Foster is trying to escape back to his feet but Sweet uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Preston Foster has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The referee asks Sweet politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Sweet prefers to stall for the moment though.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Preston Foster. I think Sweet has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
