Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Eduardo Zavala!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Giovanny Winters!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Bart Greer and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Winters lets loose with a powerful body kick. Zavala will feel that in the morning.
Zavala looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Winters throws a counter combo.
Zavala misses with a takedown
and Winters counters with a solid body kick.
We've been hearing reports that Zavala has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Zavala shoots and misses
and Winters counters with a lovely straight right hand!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eduardo Zavala. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Winters makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Winters rushes Zavala and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Winters breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Zavala shoots in for a double leg but Winters sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Zavala takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Winters connects with a solid leg kick.
Zavala walks into a stiff left hand from Winters.

Winters gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Zavala tries for a takedown but Winters manages to get underhooks.

Winters manages to break the clinch.
Winters lands with a slapping head kick.
Zavala doesn't manage to clinch there - Winters circles away.
Winters looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Zavala closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Winters tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Zavala wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Zavala working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Zavala thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Winters is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Zavala wants to control but Winters is keeping him busy.
The strikes coming from Zavala are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Zavala landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Winters tries to improve position but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Winters really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Zavala. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Winters tries to escape but Zavala is in control.

Winters is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Zavala has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Zavala in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Winters is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
