Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rickson Caceres (ranked 1605 p4p, 1464 weight class) and Caio Carvalho (ranked 220 p4p, 207 weight class). Carvalho has chosen Pentagono - É o Moio as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Caio Carvalho has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Rickson Caceres's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rickson Caceres!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Caio Carvalho!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Ryoma Takatsuka and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carvalho misses with a hook

and Caceres counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Caceres sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Carvalho's guard.
Caceres has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Caceres frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Caceres is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Carvalho to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Carvalho shrugs it off.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Caceres has the hooks in. Carvalho is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Carvalho manages to reverse the position and now he's in Caceres's guard. Nice work there by Carvalho.

Carvalho tries to bum rush Caceres with a series of wild strikes but Caceres uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Caceres is defended easily by Carvalho.
Caceres is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Carvalho can do to turn this around?

Carvalho felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Carvalho is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Carvalho working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Caceres doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Caceres manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Caceres got a little sloppy there for a moment and Carvalho has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Caceres has managed to get both his arms back between Carvalho's legs - danger averted.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Caceres controls Carvalho momentarily but Carvalho frees himself.
Carvalho stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Caceres swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Caceres tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Carvalho wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Carvalho prevents Caceres from getting the reversal.

Carvalho thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Caceres is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Carvalho throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Carvalho tries to control but Caceres wriggling away.
Caceres holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Carvalho tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Caceres wants to hold on but Carvalho pushes him away.
Carvalho looking to ground and pound but Caceres is blocking nicely.
Carvalho throwing strikes but Caceres bucks up and reverses the position. He's now in guard on top.
Caceres tries to free his leg and advance position but Carvalho is retaining full guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Carvalho is on top in guard.

I think Caceres has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
