The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Gracie decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Gracie (2) vs (0) Escobar Escobar is controlling Gracie's position as best he can from this difficult position. Gracie slows the pace down in half guard. Gracie trying to pass the guard but Escobar defending well. Gracie uses his free foot to push down on Escobar's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Escobar. Score +3 for passing guard: Gracie (5) vs (0) Escobar We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Escobar tries to hold on but Gracie pushes him away. Escobar is trying desperately to improve position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Escobar is squirming around, avoiding Gracie's attempts to control the action. Gracie controlling from mount. Escobar is controlling an arm, preventing Gracie from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Escobar is looking to improve his position but Gracie isn't that keen on the idea. Gracie looking to control and managing it successfully. Escobar tries to control Gracie's body but Gracie pushes him off. Escobar squirms to his side and now Gracie has his back! That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie has the hooks in. Escobar is starting to panic. He's trying to push off one of the legs but he's left his neck open to attack. Gracie passes his arm under Escobar's neck and tightens up a rear naked choke! This one is surely all over! Yes, Escobar taps!
