PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nash Bond (ranked 3383 p4p, 25707 weight class) and Alan Snowden (ranked 397 p4p, 587 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nash Bond!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alan Snowden!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bond blocks a head kick by Snowden.
Bond smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Snowden shoots and misses
and Bond counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Snowden fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Bond to the ground. Snowden is now in Bond's guard.
Bond can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Snowden controls the pace.
Snowden wants to control from the top but Bond keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Snowden slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Snowden has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Xtreme Fighting Gym. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Bond preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Snowden shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Bond counters with a three punch combo that has Snowden backing up. Snowden nods at Bond to acknowledge the strikes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bond lands a nice shot that snaps Snowden's head back.
Bond stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bond wants it to stay on the feet.
Nash Bond has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alan Snowden.
Snowden swinging wildly here.
Bond connects with the punch.
Snowden shoots for a double leg takedown but Bond sprawls well. He's pushed Snowden's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Bond swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Snowden throws a head kick but Bond moves out of range.
Bond lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Bond bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Snowden's head backwards.

Bond lands a jab.
Snowden shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Bond counters with a straight right hand.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Snowden is defended easily by Bond.
Snowden moves to clinch but Bond breaks away
and Bond counters with a straight right hand.
Bond listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Bond enables Snowden to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Bond manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Snowden throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Bond on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bond tries to get out of the position.
Snowden throws a big elbow that misses.
Snowden sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Snowden wants to control from the top but Bond keeps moving.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Nash Bond dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Snowden pulls out of a head kick attempt.

and Bond counters with a nice uppercut.

Snowden closes the distance and clinches.
Bond is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Snowden can do to turn this around?
Bond trying to stall but Snowden improves his position.

Snowden drags the fight down to the ground.
Bond wants to stand but Snowden is controlling his posture from full guard.
Bond controls from within his opponent's guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Snowden is on top in guard.

and Bond counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Snowden is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Bond.

Snowden gets a takedown into half guard.

Snowden decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Snowden fails with the takedown.
Bond stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bond wants it to stay on the feet.
Bond throwing a counter right hand but Snowden manages to avoid it.
Nash Bond has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alan Snowden.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bond lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Snowden moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Snowden closes the distance looking to clinch
and Bond counters with a three punch combo that has Snowden backing up. Snowden nods at Bond to acknowledge the strikes.
Nash Bond is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Snowden instigates a clinch.
Snowden misses with a knee to the head.

Snowden jumps into guard, dragging Bond to the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bond postures up.
Snowden might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Bond haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Snowden working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bond doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bond manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Snowden tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Snowden is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Snowden is adopting a defensive guard.

Snowden had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bond defends it easily.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Nash Bond will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

The fight stays on the outside here - Snowden looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Bond went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Bond goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Snowden has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Snowden throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Bond sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Bond is looking to counter punch.

Bond lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Snowden pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Snowden tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bond paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Nash Bond is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Snowden rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bond moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Snowden throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bond's waist but Bond gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Snowden off to one side.
Snowden takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Snowden throws a nice looking combination but Bond bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
A little feinted left hand from Bond on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Snowden drops his hands momentarily and Bond takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Snowden rushes Bond and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Bond is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Bond is looking to break free of the clinch but Snowden has double underhooks.
Snowden has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Bond is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Nash Bond has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alan Snowden.
Snowden is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Bond gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Snowden takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Bond blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Snowden breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Snowden shoots for a takedown but Bond saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Bond looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Bond keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Snowden has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.

Snowden shoots in for a takedown but Bond shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Snowden doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Bond counters with a left and a right that stings Snowden.
Snowden looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Alan Snowden seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice cross by Bond.
A jab from Bond does it's job there.
Snowden fails with a takedown attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bond bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Snowden's head.
Bond scores with the left hand. Snowden knows he should have avoided that one.

Snowden closes the distance and clinches.
Snowden tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Bond just stands there and leans against the cage.

Snowden's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bond lands a glancing blow to the side of Snowden's head.
Alan Snowden has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Snowden throws a leg kick
and Bond cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

And that's the end of the fight!
Nash Bond showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bond, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Nash Bond decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
