The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Ian Loll.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Parker throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Phillips's waist but Phillips gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Parker off to one side.
No luck for Phillips with that takedown attempt.
Phillips shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Phillips was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Parker (0) vs (4) Phillips
Phillips thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Parker tries to improve position but can't.
Phillips looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Parker is looking for a sweep.
Phillips is trying to get an arm triangle but Parker is defending well.
Parker is looking to regain half guard here but Phillips keeps moving and retains side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Phillips is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Parker is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Parker manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Phillips is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Parker is just riding it out for now. Phillips eventually gives up the hold.
Parker wants to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Parker moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Phillips is sitting in close to Parker's body. Parker has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Phillips is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Phillips is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Parker.
