This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 8 losses; Minoari Amida! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Ian Loll and Elvis Blanc.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Amida decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Trismegistus (0) vs (2) Amida Trismegistus gets back to full guard.
Trismegistus lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Trismegistus (2) vs (2) Amida Amida is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Trismegistus avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Trismegistus advances to half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Amida gets full guard. Trismegistus drops back looking for a leg! Amida is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Amida manages to kick Trismegistus off! Trismegistus jumps back into Amida's guard. Trismegistus pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Amida is keeping the position for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Trismegistus sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Amida's guard. Trismegistus wants to work for an arm triangle but Amida is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Amida is trying to get back to full guard. Amida won't allow Trismegistus to pass to mount. Amida really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Trismegistus. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Trismegistus is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Amida is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
