Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Aljosa Medeiros (ranked 1073 p4p, 1647 weight class) and Panfilo Acerbi (ranked 118 p4p, 178 weight class). Medeiros's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Sidequest - Chime. Acerbi has chosen Boom Boom Boom Boom - Venga Boys as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Panfilo Acerbi was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Acerbi lands a slapping body shot.
Acerbi lands a jab to Medeiros's midsection.
Acerbi cracks Medeiros with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Medeiros shoots in looking for a takedown. Acerbi tries to sprawl out of it but Medeiros keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Acerbi manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

It looked like Medeiros wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
We've been hearing reports that Medeiros has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Acerbi pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Medeiros back to the cage. Acerbi follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Acerbi throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Medeiros takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Acerbi thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Medeiros if he has to take too many more of those.

Acerbi avoids the body shot from Medeiros.
Acerbi lands with a kick to the temple. Medeiros shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
A nice leg kick from Acerbi, right into the meat of the thigh.
Panfilo Acerbi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Acerbi walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Medeiros checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Medeiros was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Medeiros fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Medeiros comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Acerbi just misses with a punch to the body.
Acerbi swings for the body but Medeiros moves out of range.
Acerbi thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Medeiros if he has to take too many more of those.
Acerbi throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A jab lands there for Acerbi.
Good exchange - Acerbi coming out on top.
Medeiros scores with a nice head shot.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Panfilo Acerbi dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Medeiros throws a good cross that connects.
Medeiros cracks Acerbi with a good jab.

It looks like Panfilo Acerbi has been cut.
Acerbi uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Medeiros.
Acerbi looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Medeiros closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Acerbi's guard.

Acerbi is rocked!

Medeiros avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Acerbi is still in real trouble! Can Medeiros finish him?
Medeiros keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Acerbi's head.

Acerbi has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Medeiros doesn't defend quickly enough and Acerbi has managed to lock this one up! Can Medeiros escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Acerbi on a fantastic submission victory.
