Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aleksandr Pushkin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Denis Stojnic! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Dmitry Maklakov and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stojnic shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Pushkin as he jumps to the side. Stojnic drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Stojnic is looking to take a break and control but Pushkin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Pushkin is looking to reverse the position. Pushkin keeping his opponent close. Pushkin is looking for a sweep. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Stojnic working away. Pushkin manages to work his way to half guard, despite Stojnic's best efforts. Pushkin is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Berloga, so we'll see if he gets out of it. Pushkin is positioning himself well to prevent Stojnic advancing to mount. Pushkin works his way to full guard. Good work. Pushkin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pushkin keeping moving, preventing Stojnic from controlling successfully. Stojnic stopping the sweep attempt from Pushkin. Pushkin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Stojnic can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Pushkin pulls Stojnic in close to his closed guard and prevents Stojnic from doing any damage or advancing position. Pushkin being controlled here, momentarily. Pushkin is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Stojnic is aware though and is defending well. Pushkin is pulling down on Stojnic's head to control his posture. Stojnic preventing the sweep.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pushkin is looking for a triangle but Stojnic pushes his legs off easily.
Stojnic trying to control the position from guard on top but Pushkin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Pushkin is looking to cinch up a triangle. Stojnic throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Pushkin's body to avoid the submission. Pushkin has instead reached around Stojnic's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Pushkin arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
