This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 10 wins and 27 losses; Desi Kraag! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 48 wins and 18 losses; Rumsfeld Shart! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Kraag wants to clinch but Shart slips to the side and Shart counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Kraag (0) vs (2) Shart Shart is thwarting Kraag's attempts to control the position. Shart is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kraag is just riding it out for now. Shart eventually gives up the hold. Kraag looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Shart content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kraag trying to hold on to Shart's head to control him but Shart postures up.
Shart looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Kraag is looking to get back to full guard here but Shart has managed to pass to side control instead. Score +3 for passing guard: Kraag (0) vs (5) Shart
That's one minute gone in the round. Kraag is looking to regain half guard here but Shart keeps moving and retains side control. Shart controlling the position from side mount. Kraag tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Shart presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Score +2 for reaching mount: Kraag (0) vs (7) Shart Shart controlling the position easily from mount. Kraag is looking to get to half guard. Shart controlling from mount. Kraag could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Shart has hold of Kraag's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Kraag manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shart controlling from mount. Shart has isolated one of Kraag's arms. Kraag looking to fight him off but Shart twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Rumsfeld Shart! Rumsfeld Shart really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised.
