Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 9 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tavish Gray! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Nurlan Karim! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Anthony Taglia and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gray tries to clinch there but Karim circles away.
It seemed like Karim was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Gray is looking to clinch but Karim is avoiding it.
Gray pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Karim was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind. Gray cracks Karim with an open hand slap.
It looks like Nurlan Karim has been cut. Karim misses with a wild body shot. Karim is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Karim moves away from the strike by Gray. Gray takes a swing at Karim's ribcage but misses. Gray misses with a straight left. Karim lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Karim lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gray misses the shot to the body. Gray seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Karim walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Gray digs a good body shot into Karim's ribs. Gray throws out a powerful jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gray throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Gray scores with a hook to the body. Karim takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Gray scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Gray lands with a nice body punch. Gray throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Gray lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Gray has closed the distance and engaged Karim in a clinch.
Gray misses with the head strike.
Karim tries to circle away but Gray has him pinned against the cage. Gray fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Gray tries to throw a body punch but Karim avoids it by throwing Gray back against the cage. Karim blocks a body shot from Gray. Karim working hard to break the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Karim breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Today's fight clock is brought to you by... OOOH that's a huge shot by Gray! Karim is in big trouble here - the ref steps in to save him and this one is all over!
