PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gregor Frieberg (ranked 1507 p4p, 1190 weight class) and Danny Chase (ranked 192 p4p, 153 weight class). Chase comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Ambitionz Az a Ridah kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gregor Frieberg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Danny Chase!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Bruno Lombardi and Dean Styles.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crunch! Chase slams his shin into Frieberg's torso.
Chase cracks Frieberg with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Frieberg walks into a stiff left hand from Chase.
Frieberg shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Chase as he avoids it easily.
Frieberg gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Chase counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Chase fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Chase has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Frieberg shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gregor Frieberg. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Chase drives through with a takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Frieberg looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Frieberg seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Frieberg looking for a guillotine here but Chase defends easily.
Frieberg striking off his back but it's not causing Chase any problems.
Chase postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Frieberg is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Chase scoring with punches to the head and body.

Chase is working Frieberg over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Chase is in close to Frieberg's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Frieberg escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Chase gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Chase is looking to advance position but Frieberg has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Chase really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Chase is still trying to improve position.
Frieberg throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Chase is in all sorts of trouble here.
Frieberg throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Chase because Frieberg loaded up on that one.
Frieberg has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Chase is trying to escape the mount.

Frieberg swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Chase is now in Frieberg's guard. A big mistake from Frieberg there, giving up the dominant position!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Frieberg is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Chase is defending against the submission attempts here by Frieberg.
Frieberg throwing shots but Chase is blocking nicely.

Frieberg is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Chase has managed to free his arm - good work.

Chase has momentary wrist control but Frieberg slips an elbow through the middle.
Frieberg looking to sit in guard and control but Chase gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Chase postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Frieberg controls Chase momentarily but Chase frees himself.
Frieberg lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Frieberg is looking to advance position but Chase has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Frieberg wants to control but Chase is having none of it.

Frieberg is trying desperately to improve position.
Chase with shots to the head and body - Frieberg looks very uncomfortable down there.
Chase with a couple of short strikes.

Frieberg is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Chase softens up his opponent with a couple of shots there and then CRACK! One massive shot lands there and Frieberg is out cold! Chase jumps to his feet and celebrates on the cage with the fans, who are, quite frankly, going absolutely mental!
