Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Russ Simons (ranked 1630 p4p, 1911 weight class) and Akamaru Jackson (ranked 201 p4p, 234 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Eddie Farnsworth and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simons throws a right and a left that Jackson avoids nicely.
Simons throws a nice looking combination but Jackson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Simons fails to land with a series of punches.
We've been informed that Jackson has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jackson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Simons lands a left and a right that send Jackson crashing to the mat, dazed. Simons thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Akamaru Jackson has been cut.

Jackson is rocked!
Jackson switches off momentarily and Simons cracks him with a monster right hand! Jackson topples backwards and makes a semi conscious attempt to cover up, as Simons dives in to land one more shot, before the referee has time to call the fight. What a finish by Simons!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Russ Simons!
Russ Simons seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
