The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Etienne leaves Schroeder with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

As Etienne tries to get set, Schroeder tries to push him back and clinch up but Etienne manages to avoid the attempt.

Etienne is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Schroeder had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.
Etienne feints with a jab and clips Schroeder right behind the ear with a massive overhand right! Schroeder is sent crashing into the canvas and Etienne leaps in for the kill! Schroeder tries to get to his feet but Etienne is just battering him from every conceivable angle. The ref decides that Schroeder is in need of a savior and steps in!
