PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dawindi Buktot (ranked 23884 p4p, 23833 weight class) and Kulata Bitok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 39 - 58 - 5, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dawindi Buktot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 63 - 6, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kulata Bitok!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Wesley Smith and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Buktot shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Bitok is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Buktot's half guard.
Bitok stalling.
Bitok thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bitok controlling the pace.

Buktot is trying is best to control the position here.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Buktot shoots in looking for a takedown but Bitok manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Buktot's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Bitok dives in for a single leg takedown but Buktot sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Buktot throws a quick counter kick to the body but Bitok avoids it.
Buktot fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dawindi Buktot. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Buktot looking to score a takedown here. Bitok is defending well but Buktot drives through and ends up in Bitok's guard.
Buktot is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Bitok controls Buktot momentarily but Buktot frees himself.
Bitok has control of Buktot's left arm, preventing Buktot from doing any damage.
Buktot wants to stand and escape but instead Bitok has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Bitok seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Bitok preventing the sweep.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Buktot holds on and takes a little breather.
Buktot utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Buktot pulls Bitok in close to prevent any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Bitok closes the distance and clinches up with Buktot, looking for a takedown. Bitok pushes Buktot against the cage but Buktot circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Buktot throws a quick counter head kick but Bitok was just out of range.
Buktot stuffs the takedown attempt from Bitok. Bitok gets slowly back to his feet.

Buktot gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Buktot is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Buktot utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Buktot wants to sweep here but Bitok controlling him for the moment.
Bitok would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Bitok forces his way into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bitok thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Buktot's head.
Bitok performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Bitok tries for a takedown but Buktot sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Dawindi Buktot has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kulata Bitok.

Bitok drives through with a takedown into guard.
Buktot is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Buktot is pulling down on Bitok's head. It's preventing any offense from Bitok, at least for the moment.
Buktot can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Bitok controls the pace.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kulata Bitok has got the better of the ground game so far.
Bitok slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Let's hope that Bitok has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kulata Bitok showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Bitok will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Bitok feints and as Buktot raises his hands in defense, Bitok changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Bitok is fighting to break Buktot's control of his arms but Buktot is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Bitok stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Buktot swivels though and keeps the full guard.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Buktot fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bitok sprawls well initially but Buktot persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

I would just about give that final round to Kulata Bitok.
