PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kai Gold (ranked 762 p4p, 1243 weight class) and Nick Albodean (ranked 100 p4p, 162 weight class). Albodean has chosen I ain't worried - One Republic as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Richard Clark and Paul Tew.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Albodean throws a hook but Gold blocks it.
Gold throwing a counter right hand but Albodean manages to avoid it.
Gold bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
A looping hook to the body misses from Albodean. Gold does a little dance to reset his feet.
Gold is looking to counter punch.
Gold takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

It looks like Kai Gold has been cut.
Gold takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Albodean rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gold moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Gold was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Albodean displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gold tries for a takedown but Albodean sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Gold pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Albodean back to the cage. Gold follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Albodean seems keen to control Gold's posture.
Let's hope that Albodean has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gold accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Gold is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Albodean has his hands on Gold's head, controlling the position.
Gold throws an elbow that misses. Albodean uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Gold's guard. Nice move by Albodean!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Gold manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Albodean manages to get himself to full guard.

That's time! Gold's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Albodean throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Gold stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Albodean bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gold's guard.

Kai Gold overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Albodean slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Albodean has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Gold has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Gold is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Albodean is defending well.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Albodean tries to land knees in the clinch but Gold avoids the damage to the body.
Gold jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Albodean walks away with a smile on his face. Gold gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Gold shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Gold was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Gold misses with a right hand
and Gold takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Albodean turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Gold throws a right and a left that Albodean avoids nicely.
Albodean appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.

Gold throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Albodean's waist but Albodean gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gold off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kai Gold. That's going to take a lot out of him.
