PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Huug Schlepper (ranked 4455 p4p, 3853 weight class) and Adisa Kenyatta (ranked 467 p4p, 432 weight class). Schlepper comes to the cage accompanied by AC/DC - Highway to Hell. Adisa Kenyatta has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Huug Schlepper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Adisa Kenyatta!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Glass and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kenyatta fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Kenyatta gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Kenyatta is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Schlepper slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Kenyatta pulls Schlepper in to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Schlepper is stalling in the full guard.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Schlepper advances position into side control!
Kenyatta is trying to control Schlepper's posture but Schlepper avoids it.
Kenyatta felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Schlepper controls the position from side control.
Schlepper seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kenyatta for as long as he can get away with.
Schlepper really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kenyatta tries to buck Schlepper off but Schlepper is having none of it.
Schlepper content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Schlepper tries to score with some ground and pound. Kenyatta controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Schlepper controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kenyatta is trying to control Schlepper's posture but Schlepper avoids it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Schlepper looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Kenyatta tries to roll over but Schlepper keeps him under control.
Schlepper works his way into full mount!

Kenyatta is trying desperately to improve position.
Kenyatta wants to hold on but Schlepper pushes him away.

Schlepper tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Kenyatta wants to sweep but Schlepper has passed to side control!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Schlepper shoots in and gets a takedown into Kenyatta's guard.
Kenyatta is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Schlepper dives into side control.

Schlepper in side control, just content to control the action for now.

Schlepper is trying to get an arm triangle but Kenyatta is defending well.
Schlepper takes a little break here. Kenyatta wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Kenyatta tries to bench press Schlepper off him but Schlepper keeps the position.
Schlepper slows the pace down.
Kenyatta is looking to reverse the position.
Schlepper content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Schlepper's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kenyatta tries to bench press Schlepper off him but Schlepper keeps the position.
Kenyatta is letting Schlepper control him for a moment.
Kenyatta throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
Huug Schlepper overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kenyatta can't do much from the bottom here.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Schlepper tries to advance to mount but can't.

Kenyatta is being controlled here.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kenyatta.
Kenyatta tries to clinch but Schlepper is having none of it.
Schlepper swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Schlepper forces Kenyatta back against the cage and clinches.
Kenyatta throws a knee to the head but misses.

Schlepper has picked Kenyatta up - he's going for a ride! Schlepper dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Kenyatta tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Schlepper manages to move to mount!
Kenyatta is looking to get to half guard.
Schlepper takes Kenyatta's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Kenyatta is in trouble.

Schlepper has the hooks in. Kenyatta is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Schlepper is not going to allow Kenyatta to sit and survive in this position.
Schlepper is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
Schlepper keeps control of the position as Kenyatta tries to break free.
Schlepper has good solid back control here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Kenyatta misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Schlepper.
Schlepper lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Kenyatta at a distance.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Schlepper closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Kenyatta takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Schlepper wants to finish this one by submission but Kenyatta is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Schlepper.
Schlepper takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Kenyatta is looking to improve his position but Schlepper isn't that keen on the idea.

Schlepper takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Schlepper.
Kenyatta tries to roll over but Schlepper keeps him under control.
Schlepper content to control rather than advance.
Kenyatta wants to improve his position but Schlepper is controlling well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Schlepper wants to work for an arm triangle but Kenyatta is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Kenyatta misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Schlepper is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kenyatta has managed to free his arm - good work.
Schlepper passes to side control.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Schlepper, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
