Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Maman Suraman (ranked 2186 p4p, 1639 weight class) and Mario Yamasaki (ranked 279 p4p, 225 weight class). Yamasaki has chosen 2Pac - The Warriors Way as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Maman Suraman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mario Yamasaki!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Donald Grub and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Suraman bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Yamasaki throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Suraman attempts a counter takedown but Yamasaki avoids it well and moves away.

Suraman darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Well, if Suraman is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Suraman is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Suraman takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yamasaki is trying to stand.

Yamasaki is defending against the submission attempts here by Suraman.
Suraman definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Suraman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Suraman wants to lay and pray for a moment but Yamasaki keeps working.

Suraman seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Yamasaki for as long as he can get away with.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Suraman thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Yamasaki's head.
Yamasaki is looking to escape.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Yamasaki really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Suraman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Suraman jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Yamasaki is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Yamasaki and Suraman has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Suraman is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Yamasaki knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Suraman thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Suraman shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Suraman dives in and grabs Yamasaki's left leg, looking for a takedown. Yamasaki pushes down on Suraman's head and hops out.
Suraman's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Yamasaki connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Suraman scrambles back to his feet.

Yamasaki takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yamasaki fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Suraman manages to avoid it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Suraman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Suraman is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Yamasaki can do to turn this around?
Yamasaki wants to control but Suraman is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Suraman wants to take a breather but Yamasaki is having none of it.
Suraman slips a nice elbow through Yamasaki's hands, connecting with Yamasaki's forehead.
Suraman not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Suraman is trying to control the action in half guard but Yamasaki is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Suraman passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Yamasaki!
Suraman is landing with some decent strikes but Yamasaki is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Suraman has hold of Yamasaki's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Yamasaki manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

A close second round but Mario Yamasaki will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Suraman seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Suraman looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Suraman in particular looking to stall.

Yamasaki is looking to control Suraman's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Yamasaki avoid being mounted?

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Yamasaki wants to control but Suraman is having none of it.
Yamasaki's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Suraman sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Yamasaki is desperately trying to improve his position but Suraman has a good base and remains in mount.
Suraman lands a nice shot to the head.

Yamasaki avoids a series of strikes thrown by Suraman.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
