The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Fontaine trying to control but Hanma is working from the bottom. Fontaine is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fontaine controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Hanma looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Hanma has his foot on Fontaine's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Fontaine works his way back into a safe position though. Fontaine trying to control the position from guard on top but Hanma is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hanma pulls Fontaine in close to prevent any damage. Hanma might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Hanma is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Fontaine has his hands clasped together but Hanma extends and breaks Fontaine's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Hanma.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Baki Hanma! A less than humble Baki Hanma misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities. |
