PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Asian Guy (ranked 4196 p4p, 4302 weight class) and Big Boss (ranked 439 p4p, 457 weight class). Guy comes to the cage accompanied by Carl Douglas - Kung Fu Fighting. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Asian Guy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Big Boss! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Sam Margolis and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Boss tries to clinch up but Guy circles away and keeps his distance. Guy has managed to clinch.
Guy misses with a hook to the ribs.
Boss is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Guy is keeping busy. A nice left hand lands by Guy.
Guy throws a punch but it's blocked by Boss. A head punch on the inside from Guy fails to land. Boss will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Guy up against the cage. Boss blocks an uppercut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Boss prevents a body shot from Guy. A bit of stalling here from Boss.
Guy digs a right hand underneath Boss's ribcage. Boss let out a lung full of air as it connected. Guy lands a body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boss's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Boss is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Boss taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Boss tries to stall but Guy uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
The referee calls for Boss to work.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Big Boss. Boss closes the distance and clinches. Boss has hold of one of Guy's legs. Guy is fighting the takedown attempt but Boss gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Boss works a leg free and moves into half guard. Guy is looking to improve his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Guy controlling the position well. Guy moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Boss looking to pass the guard. Guy lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Boss looking to hit a scissor sweep but Guy is one step ahead there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Guy drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Boss dives on top into guard.
Guy on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Guy tries to get out of the position. Guy not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Boss trying to control but Guy is working from the bottom. Guy looking to control but Boss passes into half guard.
Boss is keen to just control but Guy is a slippery customer. Boss passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Guy! Boss wants to control the pace but Guy is squirming around nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Guy really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Boss sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Guy regains half guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Guy gets full guard. Guy trying to keep a closed guard but Boss is proving a slippery customer.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Big Boss will probably get the nod. That's time! Guy's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Guy keeps the fight on the outside. Boss tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Guy paws at him with a jab and circles away. Guy moves into the clinch. The referee is keeping an eye on Boss - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Guy scores with a nice hook to the head. Guy misses with a hook from the clinch. Guy digs a right hand underneath Boss's ribcage. Boss let out a lung full of air as it connected. Guy lands a shoulder strike. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Guy misses with a body punch.
Guy throws a head punch that misses. Guy doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Guy is working Boss over against the cage. A head punch on the inside from Guy fails to land.
That's one minute gone in the round. Guy lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Boss wants the takedown. Guy is fighting it off but Boss persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Guy's guard against the cage. Guy looking to control.
Guy looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Boss is defending well. Guy quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Boss has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Guy celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Asian Guy! After winning the bout, Asian Guy thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
