Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cain Velasquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shiva Chavan!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Percy O'Donnell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velasquez throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Chavan throws out a leg kick but Velasquez moves out of range and Chavan only half commits.
Velasquez throws a leg kick but Chavan sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Chavan lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Chavan tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Velasquez was well out of range. Poor timing from Chavan.
Chavan blocks a head kick by Velasquez.
We've been told by Velasquez's head coaches at SYDNEY ELITE GYM that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
A low kick from Chavan misses
and Velasquez cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Chavan throws a sloppy body shot
and Velasquez counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Velasquez pulls out of a head kick attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chavan on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Chavan rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Velasquez counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Chavan looks winded!
Velasquez throws a right and a left that Chavan avoids nicely.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Velasquez cracks Chavan on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Chavan falls backwards against the cage. Velasquez follows up with more strikes that drop Chavan to his knees. Velasquez keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Chavan! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cain Velasquez!
