Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between James Mcdowell (ranked 4179 p4p, 2690 weight class) and Jefferson Underwood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James Mcdowell could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Jefferson Underwood's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, James Mcdowell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jefferson Underwood! The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Santiago Holmes and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Underwood tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mcdowell paws at him with a jab and circles away. Mcdowell looks to score with a jab to the body but Underwood is just out of range. Underwood closes the distance looking to clinch and Mcdowell counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. The fight stays on the outside here - Underwood looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Mcdowell throwing a counter right hand but Underwood manages to avoid it. Underwood gets in close and instigates a clinch. Underwood swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Mcdowell lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Underwood blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Still in the clinch, Mcdowell scores with a nice short uppercut. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mcdowell jumps guard.
Underwood trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Mcdowell is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Underwood defends well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Underwood sitting in guard here, content to control.

Mcdowell has his foot on Underwood's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Underwood works his way back into a safe position though. Mcdowell has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Underwood can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Underwood is looking to stand up but Mcdowell won't let him. Underwood trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Mcdowell looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Mcdowell has a closed guard, preventing Underwood from standing up. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Underwood is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Mcdowell feints a jab promting Underwood to slip. Mcdowell then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Underwood slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Underwood moves in looking to clinch but Mcdowell pushes him off. Underwood moves into the clinch. Underwood misses with a punch on the inside.
Underwood looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Underwood swings wildly with an uppercut but Mcdowell uses good head movement to avoid it. Mcdowell blocks a punch to the side of the head.

A short right hand to the side of the head by Mcdowell. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. A body shot lands from Mcdowell.
Mcdowell ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mcdowell no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Mcdowell working for a triangle but Underwood defends it easily.
Underwood wants to stand but Mcdowell is controlling his posture from full guard. Underwood is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Underwood tries to clinch up but Mcdowell circles away and keeps his distance. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Mcdowell. Mcdowell tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Mcdowell is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Underwood to keep the fight standing. Underwood misses with some punches.

Underwood tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Mcdowell on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Mcdowell tries to get out of the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Underwood looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Mcdowell looking for submissions off his back. Underwood trying to control the pace. Underwood has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Mcdowell is desperately trying to improve his position but Underwood has a good base and remains in mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Mcdowell tries to get back to half guard but can't. Underwood looking to control and managing it successfully. Mcdowell tries to get back to half guard but can't. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Mcdowell is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Underwood.
Let's hope that Underwood has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Mcdowell can't keep hold of the triangle and Underwood manages to pass to side control! Underwood wants to stand but Mcdowell is controlling his arm.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Underwood controlling the position. Underwood wants to stand but Mcdowell has his arm trapped. Underwood controls the position from side control. Mcdowell manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Underwood uses his free foot to push down on Mcdowell's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Mcdowell. Mcdowell tries to reverse the position but Underwood maintains control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Underwood wants to stand but Mcdowell is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Mcdowell is looking to improve his position but Underwood isn't that keen on the idea. Underwood takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Mcdowell has given up his back.
