Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Arby shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Makarov but Makarov pushes him off and we're back to square one. Makarov half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Makarov closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Arby to the mat! Arby manages to get full guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Makarov (2) vs (0) Arby Makarov's corner is telling him to maintain position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Arby is pulling down on Makarov's head. It's preventing any offense from Makarov, at least for the moment.

Arby keeping full guard, as Makarov tries to pass. Makarov is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Makarov is pushing down on Arby's leg trying to pass to half guard. Arby is fighting to maintain full guard but Makarov has managed to sneak the leg through.

Makarov seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Arby for as long as he can get away with. Arby tries to roll over but Makarov keeps him under control.

Arby knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Arby moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Makarov forces his way into half guard. Makarov content just to control the position here. Makarov's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Makarov trying to control but he's not successful this time. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Makarov controlling his opponent.

That's six minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Arby is desperately trying to improve his position but Makarov has a good base and remains in mount. Arby is controlling an arm, preventing Makarov from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

We've been hearing good reports from Makarov's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Arby wants to control his opponent's hands but Makarov gets his hands free. Makarov is riding his opponent, not letting Arby buck him off. Makarov has his arm under Arby's chin here. Game over son! Makarov squeezes tightly and Arby is forced to tap out!
