Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mondo Arellano (ranked 4382 p4p, 4401 weight class) and Rudy Franklin (ranked 473 p4p, 475 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mondo Arellano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rudy Franklin!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arellano shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Franklin counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Franklin gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Arellano to score an easy takedown into full guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Franklin can do anything to dispel that myth.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Franklin utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Arellano passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Franklin is not content to let Arellano control the position.

Arellano working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Franklin is looking to regain half guard here but Arellano keeps moving and retains side control.
Arellano wants to lay and pray for a moment but Franklin keeps working.
Arellano works to advance to full mount. Franklin defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Franklin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Arellano. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Franklin defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Arellano.

Rudy Franklin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Franklin cracks Arellano with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Arellano throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Franklin was covering up waiting for the punch and Arellano finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Arellano loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Mondo Arellano dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Franklin scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Franklin throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Arellano stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Arellano walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Arellano doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Franklin counters with a stiff right hand.
Arellano shoots in looking for a takedown. Franklin tries to sprawl out of it but Arellano keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Franklin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

and Franklin connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mondo Arellano. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Franklin rattles Arellano with a well-timed uppercut counter. - Arellano tries to back away and recover but his hands are down low and he gets tagged again, sending him stumbling down to the canvas. Franklin dives in after him and quickly finishes the job with a trio of brutal punches, leaving Arellano stiff and motionless on the mat!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Rudy Franklin!
