Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leroy Montes!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Bravo!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Montes swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Bravo wants to clinch but Montes slips to the side
and Montes counters with a nice uppercut.

Bravo closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Bravo trying to stall but Montes improves his position.

Montes breaks from the clinch.
Montes slaps away a takedown attempt from Bravo, before circling back to the center of the mat.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Montes defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Bravo.
Bravo is looking to clinch but Montes is avoiding it.
Montes misses with a few strikes there.

Bravo shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Montes defends it nicely.

and Montes counters with a stiff right hand.

Bravo shoots in looking for a takedown but Montes manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bravo's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Montes went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Montes has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Xtreme Fighting Gym in the buildup to the fight.

Montes ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bravo moves away.

and Montes counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Montes lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bravo circles away quickly and effectively.
Bravo tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Montes counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

enabling Montes to counter with a crisp jab.
Montes misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Montes throws a series of punches but Bravo avoids them all with ease.

Montes misses with an uppercut. Bravo saw that one coming.
Bravo fails in his attempt to clinch.

letting Montes counter with a right hand.
Montes takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bravo slips a jab and a cross from Montes.
Bravo fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Montes avoids it really well and circles away.
Montes missing with a left hand there. Bravo was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
And Bravo tries to counter it with a takedown but Montes pushes his down on his head and steps out.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Bravo wants to clinch up but Montes keeps it at a distance.
Bravo misses with a double jab
and Montes counters with a three punch combo that has Bravo backing up. Bravo nods at Montes to acknowledge the strikes.
Bravo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Montes sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bravo somewhat.
Montes wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
A head kick misses from Bravo.
Leroy Montes is winning the standup battle so far.
Bravo closes the distance and clinches up with Montes, looking for a takedown. Bravo pushes Montes against the cage but Montes circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Montes tried to counter with a leg kick but Bravo avoided it.

Montes is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bravo can do to turn this around?
Bravo dives in for a single leg takedown but Montes sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

A little feinted left hand from Montes on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Montes's corner calls for a 1-2. Montes obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
John Bravo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Montes misses the jab.
Bravo shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Montes as he avoids it easily.
Montes lands with a big left! Bravo is wobbled badly! Montes comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Bravo to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Leroy Montes!
