The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Polks misses.

Machado lands with a straight right. Polks didn't see that one coming.

and Machado counters with a shoot takedown. Polks fights it but they end up in guard.

Machado pushes down on Polks's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Machado is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Polks wants to get back to his feet.
Machado wants to free his trapped foot but Polks is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Machado is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Polks doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Machado.

Machado is trying to work for a kimura but Polks is defending well.

Machado is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Polks is just riding it out for now. Machado eventually gives up the hold.

Machado is looking for a kimura but Polks is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Machado to get the leverage.

Machado wants to free his trapped foot but Polks is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Machado tries to pass the half guard into mount. Polks knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Machado looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
