Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andre Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Scruffy Jones!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones misses with a lunging right hand
letting Smith counter with a right hand.
It looks like Scruffy Jones has been cut.
Jones shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
It looks like Jones might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Jones closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Smith did well to prevent Jones getting side control.
Jones wants to stand but Smith has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Jones winds up and cracks Smith with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Smith reaches up to try and control the position but Jones seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Smith rolls and tries to escape and now Jones has his back!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jones controls the position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jones has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Smith is in real trouble here. Jones gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Smith is tapping out! Jones wins by rear naked choke!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Scruffy Jones!
