The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Piekny ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Piekny tries to score a power double leg takedown but Max sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Piekny somewhat.
Max swats away the attempt to clinch by Piekny.
Max wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Freaky Max seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Piekny looks to score with a jab to the body but Max is just out of range.
Max throws a hook but Piekny avoids it easily.
Piekny looks for a takedown but Max sprawls well.

Max tries to bum rush Piekny with a series of wild strikes but Piekny uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Piekny tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Max connects with a jab.

Piekny shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Max sprawls well. Max wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Piekny gets slowly back to his feet.
Max is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Max goes for a small jab and connects. Now Max goes in closer pressing the issue. Left hook, right straight! Piekny stumbles back but Max runs in with a huge uppercut knocking Piekny to the ground! What a finish! You have to wonder if Piekny will ever be the same after a knockout like that.
