PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Saita Paita (ranked 3916 p4p, 5209 weight class) and Timo Werner (ranked 433 p4p, 488 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Timo Werner!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Francis DeMontford and Steve Erwin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paita throws a lazy uppercut
and Werner counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Werner throws a body punch but Paita moves out of range.
Paita misses with a body shot.
Werner swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Paita pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Paita connects with a body shot that sends Werner's belly button to the back.
Paita throws a looping overhand right but Werner ducks down to avoid it.
Paita keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Paita clobbers Werner with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

It looks like Timo Werner has been cut.
Paita throws a left and a right that both miss
letting Werner counter with a right hand.
Paita fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Werner manages to avoid it.
Werner tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Paita was well out of range. Poor timing from Werner.

Werner forces Paita back against the cage and clinches.
Paita trying to stall but Werner improves his position.

Werner misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Werner makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Werner swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Werner lands a shot to the body.
Paita is breathing heavily.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Werner creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Werner tries to throw a body punch but Paita avoids it by throwing Werner back against the cage.

Werner breaks from the clinch.
Paita misses with a lunging right hand
and Werner makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Werner connects with a body shot that sends Paita's belly button to the back.
Paita walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Paita takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Werner moves into range and clinches up with Paita.
Werner lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Werner lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Werner prevents the takedown attempt.
Werner lands a hook to the side of the head.

Werner lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Werner lands an uppercut.
Werner lands a hook that snaps the head of Paita backwards.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Werner.
Paita tries to pull guard but Werner holds him up against the cage and eventually Paita drops back down to his feet.
Paita blocking some punches.
Werner tries to throw a body punch but Paita avoids it by throwing Werner back against the cage.
Paita really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Werner manages to break the clinch.
Paita misses the shot to the body.
Paita swings widly with a right hand
and Werner counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Paita throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Werner counters with a stiff right hand.
Paita connects with a right hand. Werner shakes it off.
Werner throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Paita stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

and Werner counters with a crisp right hand that drops Paita! Werner lets Paita back up to his feet, looking for a finish!

Paita is rocked!
Werner ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Paita moves away.
Paita looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

and Werner scores with a counter punch that sends Paita to the canvas! Werner smells blood - he's punishing Paita with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Paita has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Timo Werner!
