In the red corner, competing out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 15 wins and 8 losses; Jim Marston! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 13 losses; Leonard Howell!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Trevor Gratis and Alec Ball.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Howell closes the distance and clinches.
Marston drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Howell gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Howell changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Marston fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Howell is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Marston to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Marston shrugs it off.

Marston got a little sloppy there for a moment and Howell has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Marston has managed to get both his arms back between Howell's legs - danger averted.

Howell has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Marston can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Howell jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Marston is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Marston and Howell has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Howell must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Howell sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Marston's guard.
Howell is trying to control. Marston wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Howell working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Howell is looking to stall here but Marston recovers full guard.
