PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jean Arlin (ranked 812 p4p, 287 weight class) and Lawson Serrano (ranked 99 p4p, 40 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Lawson Serrano was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jean Arlin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Lawson Serrano!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Daniel Franklin and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arlin waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Serrano.
Serrano walks into a straight right hand from Arlin.
A left lands for Arlin.

Serrano has Arlin up against the cage in a clinch.
Serrano drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Serrano has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Serrano blocks an uppercut.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Arlin.

It looks like Lawson Serrano has been cut.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Arlin.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Arlin lands a left hand.
Serrano is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Arlin is defending well.
Arlin throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Serrano tries for a takedown but Arlin manages to get underhooks.
Jean Arlin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lawson Serrano.

Arlin has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Serrano has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Arlin after a bit of a struggle.

Serrano blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Arlin lands a left hand that snaps the head of Serrano backwards.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Arlin pushes Serrano back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Arlin lands a nice uppercut.
Arlin lands a left hand that snaps the head of Serrano backwards.
Arlin gets underhooks to prevent Serrano's takedown attempt.

Arlin lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Serrano or not.

Serrano's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Serrano has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Arlin after a bit of a struggle.
Arlin lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Arlin digs a right hand into Serrano's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Serrano's gas tank.
Arlin lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Arlin lands with a light punch inside.
Arlin is working Serrano over against the cage.
Arlin gets through Serrano's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Arlin lands a right hand that snaps the head of Serrano backwards.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Arlin is pressed up against the cage. Serrano has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Arlin down to the mat. Arlin avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Arlin circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Serrano to the canvas! Serrano doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Arlin keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jean Arlin!
Jean Arlin seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
The defeated Lawson Serrano had this to say: 'Bullshit. let's run it again'.
